Understanding the Story of Jesus' Baptism
Jesus' baptism is a significant event in the Christian faith, marking the beginning of His public ministry. As recorded in the Gospels, Jesus traveled from Nazareth to the Jordan River, where His cousin John the Baptist was preaching and baptizing people. When Jesus asked John to baptize Him, John hesitated, saying he was not worthy. However, Jesus insisted, and as He emerged from the water, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove, with a voice from heaven proclaiming, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17)
