Godzilla, the iconic Japanese monster that has captivated audiences for decades, has undergone various visual transformations throughout its long-running franchise. Godzilla has traditionally been depicted as green on posters and in numerous official non-film media, but his skin color in the films had always been a charcoal gray prior to this film. Godzilla's skin also returned from the MireGoji/GiraGoji green to the old charcoal black, Godzilla's traditional color. For the first time in franchise history, Godzilla was given an iguana-like dewlap (keeping with his new origins as a mutated iguana instead of a dinosaur) and skin colors a mixture of browns and grays. Godzilla's claws are black and larger, and his feet are wider, resembling that of an elephant. His skin is far more crocodilian-like, and rougher than the other designs, with a very dark gray (almost black) color.

I think Godzilla's color is like the Enterprise. It's whatever looks right in your eye, compared to whatever movie is your favorite. I've heard dark, dark brown with gray and green washes, I've heard black, I've heard gray with a greenish tinge, one person insisted it was a deep purple that under studio lights shifted to a grayish green.

For drybrushing the ridged skin textures on Godzilla, add more white (or secondary color)to your base color. Sometimes I like to drybrush with many highlight colors on random areas using a sage green (pale green),teal, tan, light grey or light blue. Don't worry about over highlighting with dry brushing.

Otherwise, the base of the plates resemble Godzilla's skin in color and texture, whereas the outlines fade into a pale rose color and have a pointy, crystal.
