The MR2 has a very small aftermarket compared to other JDM cars, so drift specific parts for the MR2 will be exceedingly uncommon or astoundingly expensive. The MR2 is a brilliant, brilliant car. I was wondering why the MR2 is rarely seen in Drifting events? Is this due to the car being mid engined and hense has poor weight distribution for.
I've only been drifting for just over a year, about 10 drift events, but IMHO the MR2 is not as good a S13, S14, AE86, etc. The MR2 feels a lot more twitchy than any other car I've drifted. Whether it's from suspension geometry, weight distribution, or a combination; the car just feels more difficult to be consistant in.

It takes practice, precision, and a deep understanding of the car's dynamics. The first-generation Toyota MR2 is a cult classic, eternally praised for its light weight and simple design. The second-generation Toyota MR2, well, people don't talk about that one.
The Toyota MR2's Drifting Potential The Toyota MR2 is a popular choice for drifting enthusiasts due to its unique mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. It is the BEST drifting MR2 I have EVER ridden in. That includes a 400+ hp fully built 3s-gte car. Im not trying to dicourage you from your project but the MR2 is NOT a drift car PERIOD.
I have some cool videos of people drifting MR2's but thats not the point. Why would you try to learn a difficult sport in a car that is just not set up for it. its true that an mr2 isnt the easiest to drift in.
