The Toyota MR2 and Toyota MRS are both compact, mid-engine sports cars known for their agile handling and performance. They typically feature a rear-wheel-drive layout, lightweight construction, and a focus on driving dynamics. The MR2 is available in various generations, with different engine options and styling cues, while the MRS is a variant of the MR2 specifically marketed in certain regions.
Not quite. In Japan, the car became known as the MR-S because Toyota was still producing what we call here in the States the second-gen MR2. In the US, Toyota still had a good deal of history invested in the MR2 name, hence adding Spyder to desginate the new model to distinguish it from the five.
My buddy told me there's a pretty decent MR2/MRS community so not surprised by the detailed feedback. I am leaning more towards the MR-S based on reliability and y'all's answers. I do like the looks of the MR2 better and people tuning them but they seem harder to find and would be more difficult as a daily driver.
The Toyota MR2 is a line of two-seater, mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports cars, manufactured in Japan and marketed globally by Toyota from 1984 until 2007 over three generations: W10 (1984-1989), W20 (1989-1999) and W30 (1999-2007). The Toyota MR2 was the first mass-produced production midship passenger car in Japan. The MR-S was introduced in 1999 as the successor to that model.
The body was not a coupe, but an open type. A detachable hardtop was also available as an option. The price at the time was 1,680,000 yen for the B edition, making it an inexpensive and attractive car.
A brief history of the Toyota MR2 across the generations, with models and differences, along with some fun facts, buying tips, recent auctions, and tons of stories about the affordable mid. My question is whether there's any difference between the (import) MR-S and the UK MR2 models? Can't find any information on the web. Thanks! Welcome to a special episode, where we're thrilled to showcase the only Toyota MRS in the UK! This unique roadster, distinct from the more familiar MR2, boasts a rare sequential gearbox, setting.
The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Rampage For This Useful Post. If you plan on swapping motors no matter what kind of MR2 you get, IMO, the MR-S probably is the best MR2 of the bunch. Arguably.
It's got an extra 2 to its wheelbase too iirc, which IMO I think the SW20 went a bit short on wheel base, so that extra 2 help, and its so much lighter, the MR.
