The MR2 in-line four cylinder to V6 swap has been around now for a few years. Arguably it was popularized by Brad Bedell when he earned his all out win at the Ultimate Street Car Challenge with his supercharged V6. Mr Bedell beat vehicles that cost substantially more.
That to me, is the singular moment when everyone realized both how easy these swaps are and how much potential they truly. Virtually everything you need to swap a 2GR. Gone are the days of fiddling with boost controllers or doing turbo upgrades to try to squeeze every horsepower out of your MR2.
The 2GRFE Engine was found in many Toyotas built since 2005 (Toyota Avalon, Camry, Rav4, Highlander, Venza, Sienna), Lexus cars (Lexus ES350, RX350), and also in some Lotus Models (Lotus Evora, Exige).
