Bathroom Zone 1 Ip Rating

No IP rating is required. However, if there is a likelihood of water jets being used for cleaning purposes in zones 1, 2 and 3, a fitting rated a minimum IP65 must be used. Zone 1: A shower area, whether an enclosed shower or a bathtub with a shower nozzle, up to a height of 2.25 metres.

The minimum IP rating for an appliance in this zone is IP44, meaning it must be protected against all solid objects and any splashing liquid. IP rating must protect against immersion/total immersion in water (IPX7/IP67). Zone 1 - Above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m.

IP rating must protect against water spray from all directions (IPX4/IP44). Zone 2 - This is the area stretching to 0.6m outside of the bath or shower. Recommendation Zone 1 extends 2.25m above bath/shower.

Use IP65 rated fittings designed for direct water spray. As zone 1 includes areas directly exposed to water, such as inside a walk-in shower or above a bath, only IP-65 rated fixtures should be used in this zone, as they provide full protection against dust and water projected from a nozzle, explains Mara Rypacek Miller. In Bathroom Zone 1, electrical fixtures must be water-resistant to handle splashing and occasional moisture, with a minimum rating of IPX4 (or IPX5 when water jets are present).

Zone 1: The area above the bath or shower up to a height of 2.25 meters from the floor. A minimum rating of IP44 is required, but IP65 is recommended for added protection. Zone 1 Bathroom Lights can be used in the area above the bath to a height of 2.25m from the floor.

In this zone a minimum rating of IP45 is required. If the fitting is 240v a 30ma residual current device (RCD) must also be used to protect the circuit in this zone. Any appliance installed in this zone must have a minimum rating of IPX7, which is total immersion proof.

It is not recommended to install any ventilation product directly into this zone. Zone 1 Up to 2250mm above bath, shower or wet room basin. A minimum rating of IP44.

For 240V fittings, a 30ma RCD must also be used to protect the circuit.
