Sarthak Yellow Rooms

We establish permanent safe spaces called Yellow Rooms in the heart of urban slums and rural poor communities. Each Yellow Rooms setup comprises two rooms painted bright yellow. We place two permanent Educators there who spend 6 hours each, every day, all year round, for years in the Yellow Rooms.

Sarthak's Yellow Rooms transform the lives of children living in extreme poverty, healing a multi-generational cycle of suffering and childhood marriage. 84 million children in India dont receive an education, perpetuating a multi-generational cycle of poverty and hunger. (Read more here.) In the next 10-15 years, these children will be our future - a future that is unsure and unskilled.

Provision of equitable platforms of good education and life will ensure that the world comes closer to having a socially and economically just society. At the heart of Sarthak Foundation lies the Yellow Roomssafe havens where children from economically struggling backgrounds, aged 3 to 21, are nurtured until they become employable. Yellow Rooms are proud to be part of UPLIFT #peaceimmersion , embracing the transformative power of collective harmony.

Together with UPLIFT, we strengthen the mission to elevate peace and unlock its true potential. Our programmes: Yellow Rooms, RTI Sarthak Gurukul and Sarthak Yellow SLATEs Yellow Rooms help #girls embrace their true potential and ensure they grow up in a gender-equal environment. As a conscious choice, we only take on projects that have the potential to bring about real change in the lives of our beneficiaries. Yellow Rooms are permanent safe spaces established right in the heart of marginalized communities and accessible and open to all the children in that community. We depute two full time educators in the Yellow Rooms who spend six hours each, every day, all year round, for years, in the Yellow Rooms.

The Yellow Slates project introduces a mini yellow rooms inside the government school premise. But it is unique in its approach to pedagogy because we use the element of theatre in the Yellow SLATEs class instruction.
