Hi everybody; this is my first thread. I have the option to purchase an '85 K100RS or an '85 K100RT. The RT has 13K miles and the RS has 20K miles. The are both the exact, great condition, and they are both the exact same price. The RT is more set-up for touring; it has the original saddle-bags and a back rest (with luggage rack).

K75 or K100 I have a 1985 k100rs and a 1986 K75T 18" rear wheel with a rear drum brake, Pichler fairing. I rode the K75 to Montana back in 1998 from Chicago (to the bmw rally). The k75 has plenty of power (I rode 2up) top speed was 125 mph. My K100rs has a much smaller fairing, but buffers the wind MUCH better than the pichler fairing.

You could have the naked K100, K100RS with sporting pretentions, K100RT for full-on touring and work (emergency services) duties and later the LT, an even more fully dressed tourer.

I have an 85 K100rs, but have only put about 110,000 miles on it. The K100/1100 series are some pretty bullet proof bikes. Other then normal use items you just keep putting gas in them and changing the oil and they keep going. There are some differences between the RS, RT and naked bikes but they are mostly rider preference things.

K100RS, vibration in footpegs, hot very hot on the left side in warm weather. Well uncomfortably hot in hot weather, great torquey motor will pull out of any gear, well almost, heavy top end, better milage on highway, than R1100's and lots better than the R100's. Little harder to tune, shim and buckets for valve adjustments.
