I guess if the AUC probe gets clogged, it doesn't read correctly anymore, and probably instead of closing the ambient airflow if you drive in some smelly surroundings, it will just let the flaps open (when you use that automatic recirculating button). Same with some temp sensors we have. So today I cleaned my AUC sensor, if you are not certain what this part is, it controls the automatic re-circulation function of your HVAC, you know, that little A with a circle.
