“Spinning Jenny” by James Hargreaves, 1764
The Flying shuttle was invented by John Kay, who was a British engineer and inventor. He made many improvements in dressing, and carding machinery. He received a patent for a 'new engine of machine for opening and dressing wool', that incorporated his flying shuttle. This invention was a very important development during the industrial revolution. It allowed a single weaver to weave much wider fabrics, and that means that it was needed less people for weaving.

John Kay, a mechanic from Lancashire, patented the flying shuttle. Using cords attached to a picking peg, a single weaver, using one hand, could operate the shuttle on the loom.
The Spinning Jenny Invented by James Hargreaves in 1764. The Spinning Jenny was a multi'spindle spinning frame that played a key part in the industrial revolution and the efficiency of factories at the time. It allowed for workers to work an eventual 120 spools of cotton at once whilst constructing cloth. This increased factory speeds exponentially, and its core design is often seen as the basis for modern factory equipment.
