Northern Fude Zhengshen (北方福德正神) is the northern guardian form of Tudigong (土地公) associated with historic Lukang, Taiwan. Lukang traditionally maintained Earth God shrines corresponding to different directions, with the northern shrine protecting the old Beitou (北頭) area. Because this district was closely connected with Lukang’s historic port, the deity became associated not only with land, prosperity and community protection, but also with merchants and maritime livelihoods. A distinctive local tradition depicts him with two Tudi Po (土地婆), or Earth God wives, reflecting Lukang’s regional folklore and making this form of Fude Zhengshen especially unusual among Taiwanese Earth God traditions.
