I think this would be a really good hands-on way for kids to visually learn addition. This activity is different from the model of requirements you gave us. Culturally, literally, and artistically, this activity isn't really evident, as there isn't much of a way for these aspects to come through in this activity. However, I still believe this is very helpful. I think for kids who are less mathematically inclined, this visual representation is good because it is another way to see the numbers as physical objects. As well, this is very fun because kids get to use beads and pipe cleaners so it combines math and crafting to get and keep kids engaged.
