The Sermon on the Mount One time, Jesus went to a mountainside to talk to the crowd that followed Him. Jesus taught them a list of blessings that are often referred to as "the Beatitudes." He talked about principles for living a godly life, how to manifest love, and the importance of forgiveness. I first thought about reading it out loud, but I didn't want to just read the words to you.
I thought about preaching it, but there is only one person who can actually preach the Sermon on the Mount, and that's Jesus. They are his words, and no one else can preach them as their own. Instead I want to speak the Sermon to you this morning.
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) were powerful words to the disciples of Jesus and everyone else gathered at His feet that day! His words challenged their thinking and lives for a greater purpose - God's Purpose! The words of Jesus on the mountain still hold challenges for His followers today. Jesus' words will transform our lives for God's purpose, if we will apply them and allow.
