These aren't just plates; they're miniature works of art, each telling a story about the owner's interests, heritage, or Florida pride. Let's delve into the world of Florida decorative license plates, their history, types, and the stories they tell.
History of Florida License Plates
To understand the evolution of Florida decorative license plates, we must first look at the history of standard Florida license plates. The first license plates were issued in 1905, bearing the state's name in bold, black letters. Over the years, the design evolved, incorporating elements like the state seal, palm trees, and the iconic orange. The shift towards decorative plates began in the 1990s, with the introduction of specialty plates.
