By the 2EE0 code, I'd say the coolant sensor is dead or unplugged or possibly the wire is mangled someplace. That would explain why the fan is on high -- the engine computer runs the fan on high as a fail safe since it can't read the actual coolant temperature. This sensor is on the lower radiator hose where it plugs into the radiator.

So, my car's been throwing this annoying code, "2EE0 - DME: Coolant temperature sensor, signal." It's stuck in limp mode, and I just can't figure out what's wrong with it.

Understanding BMW Coolant Sensor Issues When it comes to luxury vehicles, BMW stands out for its engineering excellence and performance. However, even the most meticulously crafted machines can experience issues, and one common problem that BMW owners may face is related to the coolant sensor. The coolant sensor plays a crucial role in monitoring the engine's temperature and ensuring that.

The dual temp sensor in the waterpump is wired to the DME and the temp gauge in the cluster. The ambient temp sensor under the car can take a few hours to start indicating the correct temp. Or you could have a bad connection, and the -40~ reading.

Thanks! The DME achieves this using feedback from various engine sensors that monitor conditions like coolant temperature, mass airflow, throttle position, camshaft position, and oxygen sensors. Based on this data, the DME makes adjustments in real-time to ignition timing, fuel injector pulse width, idle control, and more to optimize engine operation.

Please Note - this article only applies to models with the N51 Engine. BMW E90 models utilize a radiator outlet temperature sensor that's located in the right side radiator hose. The sensor monitors coolant temperature as it leaves the radiator.

The sensor reading is used by the DME to determine when the electric cooling fan is activated. The sensor can fail electrically, a fault code will be. Does the electric fan come in for a short period of time when the engine is started? The DME tests the electric fan each time the engine is started.

Also, check the radiator outlet temperature sensor and wiring.
