Before we begin, ensure your paper is a square. If not, you can cut a regular piece of paper into a square. You'll also need a flat surface and your fingers for folding.

Square Base
The square base is the foundation of many origami models. Start by ensuring your paper is a square and laid out flat. Then, fold the paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Unfold it back to a square. Next, fold it in half again along the other diagonal to form an 'X' crease. Unfold it back to a square. Your paper is now ready for the square base.
To make a square base, bring all four corner flaps to the center by following the creases you've just made. You should now have a smaller square with four flaps. This is the square base.
Pleat Fold
