The bathroom is a unique space, with its own set of challenges, and Reddit users have shared their insights and experiences to help you make an informed decision. Let's dive into the best bathroom paint options, as discussed on Reddit.
Why Bathroom Paint Matters
Bathrooms are typically exposed to high humidity, temperature changes, and moisture, which can cause paint to peel, crack, or discolor. Moreover, they often have limited natural light, making the right paint color crucial for creating a welcoming atmosphere. The best bathroom paint should be durable, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean.

3. Valspar Signature
Valspar's Signature line is another popular choice among Reddit users. It's a versatile paint that's suitable for both walls and trim. It's also mildew-resistant and easy to clean, making it a great choice for bathrooms. Valspar offers a wide range of colors, including their popular Cashmere and Ultra Pure White.
Best Bathroom Paint Colors
When it comes to bathroom paint colors, the sky's the limit. However, Reddit users suggest sticking to light, neutral colors to create a sense of space and brightness. Here are some popular choices:
- Gray: A timeless favorite that works well with a variety of decor styles.
- White: A classic choice that can make small bathrooms feel larger.
- Light Blue: A calming color that's perfect for creating a spa-like atmosphere.
- Soft Green: A nature-inspired color that can add a touch of elegance to your bathroom.
Bathroom Paint Sheen: What's the Best Choice?
The sheen of your bathroom paint can affect its durability and appearance. Here's a quick guide to help you choose the right one:
| Sheen | Durability | Ease of Cleaning | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat/Matte | Low | Low | Ceilings, low-traffic areas |
| Eggshell | Medium | Medium | Walls, moderate-traffic areas |
| Satin | High | High | Walls, trim, high-traffic areas |
| Semigloss | Very High | Very High | Trim, cabinets, areas prone to moisture |
| Gloss | Very High | Very High | Doors, cabinets, areas prone to moisture |
As you can see, satin and semigloss sheens are typically the best choices for bathroom walls and trim, due to their durability and ease of cleaning. However, the best sheen for your bathroom ultimately depends on your personal preferences and the specific needs of your space.
Preparing Your Bathroom for Painting
Before you start painting, it's crucial to prepare your bathroom to ensure the best results. This includes cleaning the walls, repairing any damage, and priming the surfaces. Reddit users also suggest using a paint sprayer for a smooth, even finish.
In the end, the best bathroom paint is the one that meets your specific needs and preferences. Whether you're looking for durability, ease of cleaning, or a specific color, Reddit users have shared their insights to help you make an informed decision. So, don't be afraid to ask for advice or share your own experiences in the Reddit community.
