How to Put Up a Door Curtain: Step-by-Step Guide for Easy Privacy

Transform your space with a practical and stylish door curtain—perfect for creating privacy, adding texture, and enhancing your room’s aesthetics without major renovations.

Start by selecting a curtain fabric that suits your style—linen, cotton, or velvet offer unique texture and durability. Measure the door width and hang the curtain rod at about 6 feet high on both sides. Secure the rod using sturdy hooks or brackets, ensuring smooth movement. For a clean look, tie the curtain’s ends with simple knots or use a curtain tie bar; avoid tight pulls to maintain fluid drape. Pair with a decorative handle or ring for a polished finish.

Consider light filtering needs—sheer fabrics offer soft diffusion, while heavier materials provide full privacy. Match the curtain color to your decor or use contrasting tones for visual interest. Eco-friendly and washable options are ideal for long-term use in family homes.

Use a level to ensure rods are straight, and test curtain movement before securing. Install curtains near door handles for easy access, and consider adding a magnetic closure for a seamless look. Keep rods at a consistent height across doors for uniformity.
