Crafting Charm: A DIY Guide to a Rustic Table Lamp

Prepare Your Wooden Base
Start by measuring and cutting your reclaimed wood to your desired size for the lamp base. Sand any rough edges to ensure safety and a smooth finish. If you'd like, stain or paint your wooden base to match your room's aesthetic. Once dry, apply a clear sealant to protect the wood.
Drill Holes for the Cord and Jar
Using a drill bit slightly larger than your light cord, drill a hole in the center of your wooden base. This will accommodate the cord and allow the mason jar to sit securely. Next, drill two smaller holes on either side of the center hole for the screw eyes that will hold the cord in place.
Assemble the Lamp Base
Insert the light bulb socket into the mason jar lid, securing it with screws. Thread the light cord through the center hole in your wooden base, pulling it through until the socket is flush with the bottom of the jar lid. Secure the cord to the wooden base using screw eyes and small screws.
Wire the Lamp
Strip the ends of the light cord, exposing the wires. Twist the bare ends of the black (hot) wire around the brass screw on the light socket, and the bare ends of the white (neutral) wire around the silver screw. Tighten the screws to secure the wires in place. Wrap the exposed wires with electrical tape to insulate them.
Attach the Mason Jar
Screw the mason jar lid, with the socket attached, onto the mason jar. Place the jar onto the wooden base, ensuring it's centered and secure. Your DIY rustic table lamp is now ready to light up your space!

Always remember to unplug your lamp before making any adjustments to the wiring. When using reclaimed wood, ensure it's free from any nails or splinters that could pose a safety hazard. Keep flammable materials away from your lamp, and never leave it unattended while in use.
