Step-by-Step DIY Vanity Table Instructions
1. Measure and Cut the Wood
Begin by measuring and cutting the wood pieces according to the following dimensions:
- Vanity top: 2 pieces at 24" x 16" (1x8 pine board)
- Vanity base: 2 pieces at 24" x 12" (1x6 pine board)
- Legs: 4 pieces at 28" (2x4 lumber)
- Supports: 2 pieces at 24" x 3" (2x4 lumber)
2. Assemble the Vanity Top
Apply wood glue along the edges of one of the 24" x 16" pieces. Align it with the other piece, ensuring the best sides face out. Clamp the pieces together and let the glue dry according to the package instructions. Once dry, sand any rough edges.
3. Build the Vanity Base
Repeat the gluing and clamping process with the 24" x 12" pieces to create the vanity base. Ensure the best sides face out and sand any rough edges.
4. Attach the Legs
Position the vanity top and base on their sides, facing each other. Apply wood glue to the ends of two legs and attach them to the inside of the vanity top, flush with the edges. Use clamps to secure the legs in place and let the glue dry. Repeat this process for the remaining two legs on the vanity base.
5. Add Supports
Attach the 24" x 3" supports to the inside of the vanity base, centered between the legs. This will provide additional stability and create a shelf for storage. Use wood glue and screws to secure the supports in place.
6. Attach the Top and Base
Once the glue is dry, flip the vanity top and base right-side up. Align the top with the base, ensuring the legs are flush. Use clamps to secure the pieces together and drill pilot holes before screwing the top to the base using 1-1/4" screws.
7. Sand, Paint, or Stain
Sand the entire vanity table with 120-grit sandpaper to prepare it for paint or stain. Apply your chosen finish, following the manufacturer's instructions. Allow the paint or stain to dry completely before moving on to the final step.
8. Add Final Touches
Once the paint or stain is dry, you can add any desired hardware, such as knobs or pulls, to complete your DIY vanity table. Position the vanity in your desired location, and enjoy your new space for a relaxing beauty routine.
