The Beefeater Legacy

The tale of Beefeater gin dates back to 1863, when James Burrough, a pharmacist and entrepreneur, crafted his first batch of spirits in the heart of Chelsea, London. Burrough's recipe, a harmonious blend of nine botanicals - including juniper, coriander, and Angelica root - has been meticulously guarded and refined over generations, resulting in the premium gin we savor today.

A Master Distiller's Art

The creation of Beefeater red label gin is a labor of love, a craft mastered by the House of Beefeater's Master Distiller, Desmond Payne. With over five decades of experience, Payne continues the legacy of his predecessors, handpicking and harvesting the finest botanicals from around the globe.

Each botanical is carefully steeped in the grain spirit for at least 24 hours, allowing the flavors to marry and extract, before being distilled in a small copper still. This painstaking process results in a gin that is deeply aromatic, refreshingly crisp, and unapologetically bold - a true reflection of its namesake, the Beefeater.

Botanicals and Flavor Profile

Beefeater's signature blend includes nine botanicals, each imparting its unique character into the final spirit. The juniper berry, the quintessential gin botanical, lends its piney, resinous notes, while coriander seeds provide a warm, spicy undertone. Angelica root contributes a light, earthy finish, and bitter almonds add a subtle sweetness.

The resulting flavor profile is a balanced symphony of citrus, spice, and juniper, a classic London Dry Gin that stands tall among its peers. This bold, robust character makes Beefeater red label gin an excellent choice for both classic gin cocktails and innovative tipples.
