Transforming an awkward corner into a functional workspace is a breeze with a corner desk. Not only does it maximize your space, but it also adds a unique touch to your room. Today, we're going to guide you through building a corner desk with drawers, perfect for keeping your workspace organized and clutter-free.

Before you dive into the project, ensure you have the right tools and materials. You'll need a saw, drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, and safety gear. For materials, prepare plywood, 2x4 lumber, drawer slides, and hardware like screws and hinges.

Designing Your Corner Desk
Start by deciding on the desk's dimensions. A standard corner desk is 60" wide and 48" deep, but you can adjust these measurements to fit your space. Sketch your design, including the desk's top, sides, and drawers.

Consider the desk's height. The average desk height is 29" to 30", but you can adjust this based on your preference and the height of your chair.
Cutting the Plywood

Using your design, cut the plywood into the required pieces. You'll need two pieces for the desk top (one for the main surface and one for the corner support), four pieces for the legs, and two pieces for the drawer fronts.
For the desk top, cut one piece to the full width and depth of your desk, and another piece to fit the corner, measuring 24" x 24". For the legs, cut two pieces to 24" x 12" and two pieces to 12" x 12". The drawer fronts should be 12" x 12".
Assembling the Desk Frame

Begin by attaching the legs to the desk top. Use the 24" x 12" pieces for the front and back legs, and the 12" x 12" pieces for the corner supports. Attach them using wood glue and screws, ensuring the desk is square.
Next, attach the corner support piece to the desk top, creating a 'L' shape. This will provide additional support and stability to your desk.
Building the Drawers

Now that your desk frame is complete, it's time to build the drawers. You'll need to cut four pieces of plywood for each drawer - two for the sides, two for the front and back, and one for the bottom.
Assemble the drawer box by attaching the sides, front, and back pieces using wood glue and screws. Ensure the drawer is square before attaching the bottom piece.

Installing the Drawer Slides
Measure and mark the location for the drawer slides on the inside of the desk frame and the outside of the drawer box. Attach the slides using screws, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Test the drawer by sliding it into the desk. It should move smoothly and fit securely. If necessary, adjust the slides or the drawer box until it fits perfectly.
Adding the Drawer Fronts
Attach the drawer fronts to the drawer boxes using hinges. Ensure the fronts are level and aligned with the desk top.
Finish your desk by adding any desired hardware, such as handles or knobs, to the drawer fronts and desk top.
Step back and admire your handiwork. Your new corner desk with drawers not only maximizes your space but also adds a personal touch to your workspace. Enjoy your newfound organization and productivity!
