Complications of ED in young men

As men age, their testosterone decreases, and that plays a factor in ed to an extent, too. The effects of low t start to grow increasingly apparent around 40, and most studies are showing ed commonly starting at age 40 and above; few focus on men under 40. Anecdotally, i see a lot of younger guys who have ed, but healthy guys don’t have this issue. The younger guys who have ed are the ones with metabolic syndromes, going into type 2 diabetes or they’re abusing drugs. It’s always something that they can turn around and correct. problems Ed shouldn’t be normal at 35, not if you’ve got no trauma, no past history, you’re eating a well-balanced diet, sleeping well and exercising.

There are three pathophysiologic mechanisms associated with erectile dysfunction: (1) psychogenic erectile dysfunction, most commonly seen in young men; (2) neurogenic erectile dysfunction can occur after pelvic surgery, prostate surgery, spinal cord injury, or other neurologic conditions such as multiple sclerosis; and (3) vasculogenic erectile dysfunction, which can be due to arterial insufficiency and or venous leak. The most common etiology is arterial insufficiency due to trauma or associated comorbid conditions. Venous leak erectile dysfunction occurs when there is a lack of emissary vein closure at the time of tumescence. Even though the arterial inflow is adequate, without closure of the venous outflow, the penis cannot develop rigidity.

There has been a great deal of speculation that young men with vascular ed may be due to subclinical perineal trauma. This was supported by a study that looked at 91 men with ed and without a history of perineal trauma who underwent penile angiography - younger men were found to more frequently have focal arterial occlusive disease and exposure to subclinical trauma [ 6 ]. This concept has been supported by the association between bicycling and ed. This relationship was first noted in a number of case reports, but later cross-sectional studies found that young men who bicycle more than 3 hours a week have an increased risk of developing ed [ 7 ].

Effective treatments exist to help you enjoy sex again, including medications to strengthen erections and make them more attainable, penile implants, penis pumps, and noninvasive, pain-free gainswave ®. Instead of only increasing blood flow to the penis for a limited period, gainswave addresses one of the underlying problems that causes the condition in the first place. Gainswave uses pulsed acoustic wave technology to improve blood flow to your penis. This treatment stimulates your body’s natural healing processes, increasing production of stem cells and growth factors to help create new blood vessels (revascularization) around the base of your penis so more blood flows naturally to your penis.

the food and drug administration (fda) does not recommend alternative therapies to treat sexual dysfunction. Many products are advertised as " herbal viagra " or "natural" sexual enhancement products, but no clinical trials or scientific studies support the effectiveness of these products for the treatment of ed, and synthetic chemical compounds similar to sildenafil have been found as adulterants in many of these products. The fda has warned consumers that any sexual enhancement product that claims to work as well as prescription products is likely to contain such a contaminant. A 2021 review indicated that ginseng had "only trivial effects on erectile function or satisfaction with intercourse compared to placebo".
