The Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Strafe remains one of the most iconic entries in the premium mechanical keyboard segment, blending robust build quality with the performance-oriented switches from Cherry. For enthusiasts and competitive gamers alike, this device serves as a critical interface between command and execution, offering a tactile and responsive experience that minimizes latency and maximizes control.
Engineering and Build Quality
Crafted with an aluminum top plate, the Strafe RGB MK.2 presents a premium aesthetic that is both durable and visually distinct. This rigid frame ensures that the keyboard does not flex during aggressive typing or gaming sessions, providing a solid foundation for the Cherry MX switches. The construction feels substantial, weighing enough to remain stationary during intense use while maintaining a clean, industrial design language that sets it apart from bulkier gaming peripherals.
Switch Performance and Customization
At the heart of the keyboard is the choice of Cherry MX switches, which define the typing experience. Whether opting for the tactile feedback of Cherry MX Browns or the linear smoothness of Cherry MX Reds, the actuation is consistently crisp. This specific model is favored for its ability to register multiple key presses simultaneously (N-key rollover), ensuring that complex inputs in games are executed accurately without ghosting or input lag.
- Durable Cherry MX mechanical switches rated for 50 million keystrokes.
- Consistent actuation force for improved accuracy and reduced fatigue.
- Optimized for both rapid gaming commands and extended typing sessions.
RGB Lighting and Software Integration
Corsair’s proprietary iCUE software allows for extensive personalization of the keyboard’s per-key RGB lighting. Users can create dynamic lighting effects, synchronize the keyboard with in-game events, or configure static colors to match their setup. The illumination is bright and vibrant, casting a professional glow across a gaming desk without being distracting.
Performance for Gaming and Typing
For competitive gaming, the Strafe RGB MK.2 excels due to its mechanical switch design and anti-ghosting technology. This translates to faster input registration, which can be the difference between victory and defeat in high-level play. The keyboard also features dedicated macro keys, allowing users to program complex command sequences for games that require intricate button inputs.
Beyond gaming, the keyboard proves to be an excellent tool for productivity. The tactile feedback of the switches encourages a light touch, reducing finger strain over long hours of work. The addition of dedicated media controls on the left side of the device allows for effortless adjustment of volume or playback without interrupting the user's workflow or focus.
Connectivity and Practical Considerations
The device connects via a braided USB cable, ensuring a reliable wired connection that eliminates battery concerns during critical moments. While it lacks wireless capabilities, this wired approach guarantees zero latency and a stable connection, which is essential for competitive integrity. The keyboard also features a pass-through USB port, allowing users to connect a mouse or other peripherals without occupying an additional port on the computer.
