Choosing a trainer for your service dog is a decision of immense importance. The trainer's background directly impacts the reliability and skill of your future partner. At Robinson Dog Training, our experience as veteran K9 handlers provides an unparalleled advantage. We have trained dogs to perform critical tasks under the most intense pressure imaginable. We translate this expertise into a world-class service dog training program that builds resilient, confident, and impeccably behaved K9s.
Our understanding of PTSD and the specific challenges faced by veterans allows us to create a training environment built on empathy, respect, and a shared sense of mission. We focus on building "environmental stability"-the ability for a dog to ignore distractions and remain focused on its handler, no matter the situation. Gilbert residents seeking a service dog deserve a trainer who understands that this is more than just obedience; it's about training a life-saving partner. Trust the proven experience and disciplined methodology that only a veteran K9 handler can provide for your service dog training needs.
We offer a range of specialized service dog training programs to meet the unique needs of our Gilbert clients. Each program is tailored to the individual handler and dog, ensuring the most effective and relevant task training.
Our flagship program focuses on training dogs to mitigate the symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions. Tasks include deep pressure therapy, anxiety interruption, creating space in crowds, and nightmare interruption.
We train dogs to provide physical support for handlers with mobility challenges. This includes tasks such as bracing to stand up or sit down, retrieving dropped items, opening and closing doors, and providing a stable presence to lean on for balance.
We offer foundational training for medical alert dogs, including those for diabetes or seizure response. We work to sharpen a dog's natural abilities to detect physiological changes and teach them a clear, reliable alert signal.
All of our service dog programs include extensive public access training. We ensure your dog is calm, unobtrusive, and well-behaved in any public environment, and we help you prepare for and pass any necessary certification or public access tests.
We believe in a clear, methodical, and supportive process to guide you on your journey to becoming a successful service dog team. From the first consultation to your final certification, we are with you every step of the way.
The journey begins with a comprehensive consultation. We discuss your specific needs and goals in detail. We then perform a thorough temperament and aptitude evaluation on your dog to determine their suitability for the rigors of service work. Honesty and transparency are the cornerstones of this initial step.
Before task training can begin, we must establish a flawless foundation of advanced obedience. This phase focuses on perfect leash manners, a rock-solid stay, and immediate recall. Crucially, we also coach you, the handler, on how to communicate clearly and effectively with your working K9 partner.
This is where we customize the training to your unique needs. Based on your disability, we will train your dog to perform the specific, measurable tasks that will help mitigate it. This is a detailed and intensive phase where the dog learns its most important jobs.
We take the training out of the facility and into the real world. We conduct training sessions in pet-friendly stores, parks, and other public spaces throughout Gilbert and the East Valley to proof the dog's behavior and ensure they are confident and reliable in the face of real-world distractions.
