I rarely check as is items but have found the problem to be prevalent with any other than brand new items. It's like QVC is low on merchandise but wants someone to think it's business as usual. My entire Susan Graver and D&C clothing items are either "as is" or "lunchtime special" and for the most part all have arrived in new condition.
I have also not had issues with returning those items for a refund or replacement if the item was available.
