I have owned a few straight six BMWs, an E30 325i manual, E46 330i manual and auto, e39 530i manual and then 2 autos, Z3 328i manual and the 335i auto and have a 130i manual now. Also had a 120d auto and 123d auto. They both work well imho, and I think the 1 Series suits either.
But after driving this BMW 130i Hatchback, I knew exactly what was going to replace them. It really was that good! 0:00 Background 0:37 Exterior 0:53 Drivetrain 1:35 Interior 2:37 Auto Driving. Hatchback BMW 130i has been produced from March, 2007 to 2011.
It has six-cylinder petrol engine with displacement of 3.0 litres, which produces power of 265 horsepower on 6600 rpm - this is the most powerfull BMW 1 sērija 2007 - 2011 version and torque 315 Nm (Newton metres) on 2750 revolutions per minute. Considering a 130i as a daily and looking for comments from the members re how good the auto gearbox is. Prefer manual but so few around and those that are (apart from IainR's recent purchase) appear to be a bit untidy with doubtful history. More auto's for sale and much lower priced so consideri.

Spoiler alert - I've sold the 130i. My car ownership plans change like the wind at the best of times, let alone with a pandemic thrown into the mix. Although having bought MJ09 OTH in February.
