Crafting a Simple and Sturdy Easel Stand: A Step-by-Step Guide

- 1-inch screws

Design and Measurements
For this simple easel stand, we'll create an A-frame design with a canvas support. The measurements below can be adjusted to suit your specific needs, but they provide a good starting point for a standard-sized canvas.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut the Lumber
Using your chosen saw, cut the lumber according to the measurements provided above. Ensure you have four legs, one top brace, one bottom brace, two canvas supports, and two back supports.
2. Assemble the Legs and Braces
Apply wood glue to the ends of the legs and the corresponding brace. Align the pieces, ensuring the top brace is perpendicular to the legs, and the bottom brace is parallel to the ground. Use clamps to secure the pieces together and let the glue dry according to the package instructions.
3. Attach the Canvas Support
Once the glue is dry, attach the canvas supports to the inside of the legs using 1.5-inch screws. The supports should be positioned about 16 inches from the bottom of the legs, creating a space for your canvas to rest. Ensure the supports are level and perpendicular to the legs.
4. Add the Back Support
Attach the back supports to the outside of the legs using 1-inch screws. These supports should be positioned about 12 inches from the bottom of the legs, providing additional stability for your canvas.
5. Sand and Finish
Use sandpaper to smooth any rough edges or surfaces. If desired, apply a coat of primer and paint to finish your easel stand. Allow the paint to dry completely before using the easel.
6. Test Your Easel Stand
