Why is my sump pump running continuously but not pumping water?

Usually the float switch is stuck on, the impeller is clogged with limestone grit, or the check valve has failed and water drains back into the pit. A pump that runs nonstop overheats and burns out, so it needs a sump pump repair quickly. A plumber finds which cause it is before replacing parts.

How long does a sump pump last in Boerne?

Most sump pumps last seven to ten years, but Boerne's hard-water sediment and limestone grit can shorten that by wearing impellers and seizing float switches. A pump packed with sediment or past ten years is often better replaced than repaired. A free evaluation confirms whether a repair or a new unit makes sense.

Can a sump pump drain into the sewer in Boerne?

No. Boerne plumbing code prohibits a sump pump from discharging stormwater into the municipal sanitary sewer, since that is a cross-connection violation. The discharge has to route to grade, a storm drain, or a daylighting point away from the foundation. A licensed plumber sets the discharge up to code during the repair.
