I’m a semi-retired teacher who has lived and worked in the Bristol area since the 1990s. I have been supporting Greenpeace ever since I got my first paycheck in teaching. I first got involved in the Bristol Greenpeace group and now help run the Bristol group with a focus on social media and recording our activities through blogs, photos and videos.

I feel it is essential that Greenpeace has the ability to reach out to the local community and highlight the problems facing our environment, and solutions to those problems. Doing nothing is no longer an option.

Recently I have been involved in the campaign against fracking and am also trying to reduce my plastic footprint.

Jenny Brock

A recently-joined member of Greenpeace, I am a freelance artist and part-time exam invigilator currently living in the Bristol and Bath area.

Environmental issues are my passion – including plant-based living, sustainable transport, and renewable energy – and I have always been interested in helping and passing on helpful information to others.

We only have one planet, and nothing else matters if we don’t look after it and all its inhabitants. The responsibility lies with us.

I’m studying at Bath University and work part time on an organic farm. When I was 16 I moved onto a canal boat on the Kennet and Avon canal for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle in a strong community. I now have a permanent mooring in Bathampton next to the food growing co-operative I am part of.

I’m involved in local and national environmental groups, Greenpeace being one of them – which led me to train as a Speaker. I have run various eco workshops and spoken to school groups before, including at the Youth Climate Summit 2019.

I am passionate about local food growing, tree planting, activism, sport and travel.

I’m a married software engineer, with two adult daughters and four grandchildren. I’ve been an activist with Greenpeace since the early 1980s originally joining to support the anti-whaling campaign and agreed with Paul Watson when he said “The truth is that if we cannot save the whales, we will not save ourselves.”

By giving talks to schools, universities, youth, community and faith groups I hope to inform people of the dangers facing the environment, enthuse them take action and to give them the belief that they really can make a difference, so that together we can make a better world.

Andy Parsons

Andy Parsons

A member of Greenpeace since I was a teenager, I’ve been a local group activist since the Bath group was ‘re-booted’ in 2015.

I work in a local craft brewery, but in a former life I researched the effects of climate change on polar ecosystems. I have worked in both the Arctic and Antarctic and seen first hand some of the effects human activities are having.

I started campaigning in the 1980s, motivated by the concept of social justice. I don’t believe we can have a socially just world without protecting our environment.
