On February 16, Alexei Navalny died in the colony № 3 in the settlement of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, as reported by the Penitentiary Department of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area.
“Today in correctional colony Nº 3 convict A. Navalny after a walk felt bad, almost immediately losing consciousness. The medical staff of the facility arrived immediately, and an ambulance team was called. All necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, which did not yield positive results. Ambulance doctors stated the death of the convict. The causes of death are being established,” — the message of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Federal Penitentiary Service said.
Telegram channel 112, close to the security forces, claims that Navalny’s blood clot broke off. The Federal Penitentiary Service will send a commission to the special regime colony in Yamal, where Navalny died. The politician’s lawyer Leonid Solovyov told Novaya Gazeta that the defense visited Navalny on Wednesday and “everything was fine” then. He declined to comment further.
Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the president had been informed of Navalny’s death. According to Peskov no additional instructions in this regard are required: “There is a certain set of rules on this matter, which the Federal Penitentiary Service is guided by.”

Navalny’s lawyer is flying to the settlement of Kharp, where the colony is located. This was reported by Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh. She noted that there is no confirmation of the death of the politician now.
