What Are The Biggest Cost Factors In A Kitchen Remodel?

Kitchen cabinets are the largest cost factor in a kitchen remodel. Kitchen cabinets are expensive and the style you choose can drastically increase the price. Luckily shaker cabinet style is the most popular and less expensive than some other options. The next biggest factor is the size of the kitchen (how much cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint, etc covers the area). The next cost factor is if we are changing the layout or keeping it. Sometimes changing the layout can actually save you money if it requires fewer cabinets, but the majority of the time it increases the price due to removing walls, changing plumbing, changing electrical, etc.

The 3D design renderings are part of this design process where we can actually place the exact cabinets, countertops, backsplash, appliances, and finishes you pick into the rendering and provide the exact cost with everything planned out. Countertop fabrication appointments are usually 1-1.5 weeks out, so your kitchen remodel just went from 4 weeks to 5-5.5 weeks. How Do You Keep Dust Out Of Other Areas During Kitchen Remodeling?

We combat dust with plastic zip walls (imagine blocking off your kitchen area with plastic walls - floor to ceiling), the industry's best air filters called BuildCleans, and we ask that all items are removed from the kitchen and nearby areas. That being said, we try to prevent but can't always eliminate all dust during a kitchen remodel. We keep the job site as clean as possible but there are times it will get messy. If someone in the household is sensitive to odors or dust, they may consider being out of the house during certain phases like demolition or allowing time for proper ventilation.

How Long Will My Kitchen Remodel Take To Complete?

Kitchen remodel timelines depend on the scope of your project, kitchen size, whether we're removing walls, cabinet style complexity, countertop materials, how much electrical and plumbing changes are needed, and appliance delivery schedules. For this reason the timeline is very specific to each kitchen project. We like to finish your kitchen remodel as fast as possible since every day of delay costs us money, so we don't want it going any longer than necessary. We use project management software with Gantt Charts, automated to-dos, messaging and other advanced features to progress your kitchen remodel as fast as can be safely done, while still providing high quality workmanship.

Do I Need To Move Out During My Kitchen Remodel?

During a kitchen remodel, there are certain phases where it's best to be out of the house such as demolition days, cabinet installation days, or when we're installing flooring that extends to multiple rooms where you can't walk on it. Since the kitchen is such a central part of daily life, we understand this can be disruptive. Your Project Manager will let you know ahead of time when these phases are scheduled so you can plan accordingly. Many homeowners choose to set up a temporary kitchen in another room during the remodel, and we can help you plan for this to make the process as convenient as possible.

Do You Provide A Free Kitchen Remodeling Estimate?

Yes, we provide free kitchen remodeling estimates. On the initial phone call we review your kitchen remodeling needs and provide a rough estimate range over the phone. If it seems like a good fit for both of us and the range is within your target investment, we schedule the in-home evaluation. After the in-home visit, we create a detailed scope of work and setup a second meeting to go through your detailed kitchen renovation plan and pricing. We then discuss our Feasibility, Planning and Design Package, which is our design-build business model where we plan everything out in advance before starting construction. This process ensures exact costs are calculated and eliminates the contractor surprises common in kitchen remodels.

Can I Pick My Own Kitchen Materials And Fixtures?

Absolutely! You can pick all your kitchen selection items including cabinets, countertops, backsplash tiles, sinks, faucets, appliances, lighting fixtures, hardware, and more. Our proposal includes allowances for these items so you aren't surprised with additional costs. All selection items are organized in our online portal, giving you a shopping list to pick what you like. You can purchase items from anywhere you want, but we have relationships with several suppliers we know have higher quality items at the best prices. We provide you with a guide of the best places to find kitchen selection items and help ensure everything coordinates well together in your space. Our in-house designer helps you through this process to create a cohesive, beautiful kitchen design.

Do You Guarantee Your Kitchen Remodeling Work?

Absolutely. We provide a 2-year warranty on all kitchen remodeling services, labor, and workmanship. We also provide a 1-year warranty on materials. Kitchen appliances and fixtures are covered by manufacturer warranties which usually range from 1-3 years. The exception would be if we reinstall a used item (like an existing light fixture you want to keep) and it breaks later due to age, not our workmanship. This is rare since the majority of kitchen remodels involve all new materials and fixtures.

Why Should I Choose A Licensed Kitchen Remodeling Contractor?

One of the major problems with using an unlicensed contractor for your kitchen remodel is there's very little recourse you or the ROC can take if things go wrong. If they aren't licensed, the ROC doesn't have a license to suspend or revoke. There is very little recourse a homeowner has when an unlicensed kitchen remodeler walks away from a project or won't fix their problems. However, load-bearing walls require structural engineering, and major plumbing moves can significantly impact cost and timeline. During our design phase, we'll assess your current kitchen layout and recommend the best changes to maximize both function and your budget. Many appliances like electric fireplaces, ice makers, and wine fridges require dedicated electrical circuits, which we'll identify and install during the electrical phase of your kitchen remodel.
