Where the 'No Ending a Sentence With a Preposition' Rule Comes From - Atlas Obscura
Can you end a sentence with a preposition? It’s a question writers have constantly debated, so there are varying opinions. The traditional rule is to avoid ending sentences with prepositions, but this rule now seems outdated. Ending a sentence with a preposition is often the most natural and effective way to write. One of the main problems with avoiding prepositions at the end of sentences is that it can lead to awkward writing. For example, I don’t know what to write about is much more natural than, I don’t know about what to write. It can often be impractical or even impossible to rewrite a sentence to avoid ending with a preposition. Where do you come from? could be changed to From where do you come? But it sounds unnatural.
