I had too many thoughts
There is no such thing as too many thoughts in this meditation! Thoughts are a natural part of meditation. They are part of the natural flow of life and come into the mind spontaneously. It's not necessary to resist thoughts or to try to push them out.
If your mind gets caught up in a train of thoughts, that's fine. Just naturally you will notice that that has happened and you can let it go. In daily activity, we pursue thoughts. For example, we may be planning something or analyzing a problem. In meditation, we let thoughts go.
