This is dedicated to all things regarding the BMW I4. It's a place for owners and enthusiasts to share their experience and BE NICE TO EACH OTHER. It's a great gateway EV for people who want a more traditional 3/4 series experience and it feels more grown up than my old TM3.
For the next generation i3/i4 BMW should focus on improving the powertrain cost/performance, give it an actual premium interior, and do a better job at overall packaging. Thoughts after owning the i4 for four months Pros and Cons. What are thoughts on those that have owned for a while?
In my previous post I discussed the decision making process that led to me leasing a BMW i4 eDrive35 as the replacement for my Model 3 Performance being my daily driver. So now I've officially owned the car for 2 weeks, here is what I think of it so far. After trying out several options, including a new Model 3 and Model Y, I purchased a used 2023 BMW i4 eDrive 40, an immaculate lease return with 30,000 miles, at my local dealership for just under $35k.
At a staggering ~45% off the original MSRP, I figured I might as well be the beneficiary of crazy EV depreciation for once instead of the victim. Any regrets in purchasing i4 M50? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 01:38 AM.
I work for BMW and have driven both the i4 eDrive40 and the M50 and they are both exceptional in terms of build quality and range. The M50 sacrifices overall range but makes up for it with performance and looks. Discussions for the i4 (M50, eDrive40, eDrive35) BMW i4 Forum - M50, eDrive40, eDrive35 (G26) EV Forum.
The i4 M50, is a BMW first and an EV second. So many folks that have ridden in my i4 didn't even know it was an EV because it looks like a normal BMW 4 Gran Coupe. I really like this aspect of the car.
It is visually pleasing to look at but not really obnoxious like other EVs, and maintaining a normal car aesthetic hasn't really sacrificed much. The BMW i4 is my first BEV. I generally use Level 1 charging.
The key is for me to just plug in the car whenever it is in my garage. I tend to stay in the 50% - 80% range. So far in December, I have spent about $10 charging at home on Level 1.
Remember, it is a good not to charge past 80% on a regular basis.
