I finally had time to make a few test prints for this one today. I am still experimenting with paper and will probably need to order a different one… What’s funny is that it took me about 10 minutes to correctly assemble the jigsaw after cutting it. Too many little pieces. Seems that I have outsmarted myself this time. I’ll probably also share the carving and cutting process soon if anyone is interested and if I find the energy to edit the recorded clips. Honestly, making “content” is quit... To create a portrait print, begin by sketching your subject onto the linoleum. Carve away the background, leaving the features raised. Ink each piece with a different color, then print them onto paper to create your final design. Remember, less is often more in portraiture, so don't be afraid to leave areas uncarved to create contrast.

Narrative Prints

Jigsaw lino print is perfect for creating narrative art. By combining multiple prints, you can tell a story or create a series of images that flow from one to the next. This technique is often used in artist's books and print suites.

To create a narrative print, start by planning your story or series of images. Sketch each scene onto separate pieces of linoleum, then carve and print them. Arrange the prints in the order you want them to be viewed, and consider how the colors and patterns in each print relate to the others.

Collaborative Prints

Jigsaw lino print is a great way to collaborate with other artists. Each artist can carve and print a different color or pattern, then swap pieces to create a final print that combines everyone's work.

To create a collaborative print, start by dividing your design into sections, with each section assigned to a different artist. Each artist carves and prints their section, then swaps with another artist. Continue this process until each artist has contributed to every section of the final print.

Jigsaw lino print is a versatile and engaging art form that offers endless possibilities for creativity. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner just starting out, there's always more to explore and learn. So, grab your carving tools and linoleum, and start creating your own unique jigsaw lino prints today!
