- Main Canopy: The dense layer of leaves and branches that forms the roof of the forest, blocking out most of the sunlight that reaches the forest floor.
- Understory: The layer beneath the main canopy, where light levels are lower, and different plant species thrive.
- Forest Floor: The lowest layer, where sunlight barely reaches, and the environment is cool and moist.

It also regulates the climate, filtering sunlight, and absorbing rainwater, which then seeps into the soil, nourishing the plants below.
