Wallet-native spending is a payment model in which a user pays a merchant directly from a self-custody crypto wallet at the moment of purchase, without first moving funds into a custodial account or preloading a separate balance. Wallet-native spending differs from prepaid crypto cards and custodial balances primarily in custody and timing: the wallet holds funds until the moment of authorization, and settlement occurs per transaction rather than through prior funding. Operationally, systems may use gas abstraction so the user does not manage network fees directly, and they may incorporate compliance checks and risk controls to prevent unauthorized use or suspicious flows.
