Fortinet
Fortinet is an American cyber security company. It first began operations in Burma in 2004 partnering with Bagan Cybertech, which was part-owned and controlled by Burma’s military intelligence service, responsible for torturing political prisoners. Among its first customers were government ministries controlled by the Burmese military.
It is now one of the leading cybersecurity companies in Burma. Its customers include Mytel, part-owned by the Burmese military. Burma Campaign UK sources state that Fortinet has in the past and continues to provide services to several sanctioned military-owned companies, including Innwa Bank and Myawaddy Bank, via local Myanmar partners. Fortinet has not responded to questions from Burma Campaign UK regarding this.
