About the company
SES/Intelsat
Intelsat is a satellite communications company owned by Luxembourg-based satellite communications company SES, which is part-owned by the government of Luxembourg.
Intelsat leases satellite capacity, branded MyanmarSat-2, to Myanmar government ministries, which are now under the control of the Burmese military. This enables the Burmese military to potentially use this capacity for military purposes, meaning there is a high risk of a breach of EU sanctions regarding supplying dual use technology. The military also use the satellite capacity to broadcast TV channels containing propaganda and lies, such as MRTV.
