Chiefs and MPs protest government decision to stop Juba-Kaya road construction

Oct 11, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan chiefs and members of defunct parliament representing the Yei River county are protesting the recent government decision to stop the construction of the Juba-Lainya-Yei-Kaya road.

On Friday, the former members of parliament and chiefs met the government of the Central Equatoria State to voice their concerns to governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony in the state Government Secretariat.

Speaking to the state media, the head of the delegation, Hon.Dusman Joy, said that they will work closely with the state government and also they will escalate the issue to president Salva Kiir to ensure that this matter is resolved and the road construction resumes.

Dusman reiterated that these roads are critical to promote economic development across the state and especially to serve the huge population in the national capital, Juba.

On his part,the Governor of central Equatoria state, Hon.Emmanuel Adil Anthony, appreciated the team for raising the concerns and urged them to continue pressing on until the matter is resolved.

Hon. Adil promised that his leadership is ready to facilitate their meeting with the president’s office when they are ready.
