According to a tweet shared by Ambassador Trott, the UK diplomats said they held discussions with the Chiefs of both communities and urged them to compromise to allow Upper Nile to secure the dividends of peace.

Ambassador Trott received many praises for his kindness but not until his tweet caught the eyes of Dr. Peter Adwok Nyaba who challenged the U.K diplomats to do better.

According to Peter Adwok Nyaba, the issue of Upper Nile does not rely on the chiefs but part of power struggle in the country.

Responding to Ambassador Trott, a significant number of tweeter users appreciated the UK diplomats believing it is the right thing to do.

“Great work Ambassador. Our people need to work together to enhance peaceful coexistence.” said Maal Maker Thiong

What a tremendous work you have done @Ambassador Chris Trott!.” Said Kau de Lich

“Your efforts are commendable. I hope the chiefs understood your message and were convinced so that they talk to their political elites to accept compromises for the sake of peace.” Said Caroline Kibos

“This is exemplary. Both communities must be open to dialogue and amicably iron out those THORNY and IRRECONCILABLE issues which are historical —matters of Land, Geographical identification, Leadership and Equitable economic control and rights to resources.” Said Miyen Matthew

In a different story, the UK Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Robert Fairweather, urged the leaders of South Sudan to take their responsibility seriously and ensure they bring peace to their country.

“We want to see those who are governing the country #SouthSudan take their responsibilities seriously. People are tired of war.” Fairweather said.
