U.K. Ambassadors push Padang Dinka and Shilluck Communities to reconcile and compromise on Olony’s appointment
Dec 12, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — the Queen’s Ambassador to South Sudan and former UK Special Envoy to Sudan, Ambassador Chris Trott and the recently appointed UK Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Robert Fairweather, have held meetings with the Padang Dinka community and the Shilluck Community to seek compromises on the appointment of Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony.

Ambassador Trott received many praises for his kindness but not until his tweet caught the eyes of Dr. Peter Adwok Nyaba who challenged the U.K diplomats to do better.

According to Peter Adwok Nyaba, the issue of Upper Nile does not rely on the chiefs but part of power struggle in the country.
The problem in UNS doesn’t with the chiefs. It’s the struggle for power and wealth among the political elite that should be tackled. Accredited diplomats better have correct understanding of situation before indulging to complicate it further.

Responding to Ambassador Trott, a significant number of tweeter users appreciated the UK diplomats believing it is the right thing to do.

In a different story, the UK Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Robert Fairweather, urged the leaders of South Sudan to take their responsibility seriously and ensure they bring peace to their country.
“We want to see those who are governing the country #SouthSudan take their responsibilities seriously. People are tired of war.” Fairweather said.
