25 killed in Unity state ethnic violence as locals clash with armed attackers from Ruweng

At least 25 people have been killed and dozens others have been wounded after a group of armed youth from Ruweng Administrative Area's Pariang County attacked a village in Unity state's Guit County, a local official said.

JUBA – At least 25 people have been killed and dozens others have been wounded after a group of armed youth from Ruweng Administrative Area’s Pariang County attacked a village in Unity state’s Guit County, a local official said.

A Guit County senior official who said he was with Kawai Chany Guor  said armed youth from Pariang attacked a village in Guit during dawn and killed 2 people before local youth could follow them to kill around 23 of the attackers.

“They attacked out area this morning at 4 PM and they killed people and took cattle, when we followed them to get the cattle from us, they started shooting at us and this is the point at which we begin to return fire,” he said.

“We cashed with them and we followed them and we killed about 23 people from them. They have run to the direction of Pariang County where we believe the came from and none of them has returned,” he added.
