JUBA – At least three people were killed, and two children abducted on Monday when suspected armed youth from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) attacked Nyirol County, Jonglei State, according to an official.

Biel Jiek Lual Chai, Nyirol County Information Officer and Nyirol Youth Chairperson, said the attack occurred at 7:00 am in Yakuach Boma, Chuil Payam, and resulted in the deaths of a boy and two girls.

“The perpetrators have taken the lives of three people: one young boy and two young females,” Jiek said in an email to Sudans Post on Wednesday.

“In their insanity, they have also abducted two children, one boy and one girl, and wounded three people who are in critical condition,” he added.

Jiek confirmed that three people were injured in the attack and are currently receiving treatment at a healthcare center in Nyirol County.

“The Nyirol County leadership strongly condemns this recent ambush of our people by Murle Army criminals,” he said.

He urged the GPAA government to address the issue and secure the return of the abducted children.

“We, the people of Nyirol County, respect all peace agreements signed between our sister states. However, the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area are currently violating the signed agreement,” he concluded.
