According to a senior county official who is currently in Malakal, the fighting erupted between Cie-Khor and Cie-Guandong, both of whom make Cieng Chuol Duong community, over a revenge dispute.
“Cie-Khor when to attack Cie-Guandong because they have been in confrontation for the last three days and that confrontation reached its climax yesterday,” the senior government official who refused not to be named told Sudans Post from Malakal.
Another official in Ulang told Sudans Post that police force that is station in the area does not have the capacity to intervene and a force is being prepared to be sent from Nasir County to calm down the situation.
“The forces that are in Nasir especially the police and the army are just a small portion of the whole SSPDF and SSNPS station in Upper Nile state. So, we have decided to look for a force from Nasir to be sent so that the situation is calmed once and for all,” the official said.
“Now, the total number of those killed on both sides stands at 30 as I speak to you. We also expect that the number will increase at the end of the day because there are some of those wounded who have slight chances to survive,” the official who also requested not to be named said.
