4 arrested in Awerial for stealing mobile phones, money from Ethiopian trader

JUBA – Authorities in Awerial County of Lakes State have arrested at least four (4) suspected thieves for allegedly stealing mobile phones from an Ethiopian trader, according to Awerial police chief, Bol Tier.

The four men are also said to have stolen about 700,000 South Sudanese Pounds from the unnamed trader at Mingkaman area on Monday this week, according to the Awerial Police Inspector.

“That incident happened and we have arrested four suspects in connection to the stealing of 700,000 SSP and 2 phones,” Awerial Police Inspector Bol Tier said, according to Radio Tamazuj.

“It is the report of money stolen from an Ethiopian trader is what came to me and I have arrested four 4 suspects,” he added.

Tier further revealed that the police was able to recover around 427,000 South Sudanese Pounds from the stolen money while efforts continue to return the other things missing.

“These people are detained in prison and they are asked to bring back the remaining balance from stolen 700,000 SSP,” he said.
