Last week, the government said that hike in the price of basic services and dollar prices are a result of the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia saying it has nothing it should do to stop that from happening.
In a statement, activist Wani Michael wondered why the government has not yet inaugurated the Unity refinery and urged the government in Juba to stop blaming the Russian invasion of Ukraine for its economic failures.
“What happened to the unity and other local refineries? It has taken government over 5 years and we can’t supply the local markets with affordable fuel,” Wani wrote on twitter.
“Stop blaming the Russia and Ukraine war. You’ve totally failed in your moral responsibility and leadership. You export crude oil and can’t work on local refineries for all these years to supply the local markets. Now, you want to blame it on some people war,” he added.
He said the government has “run out of ideas and blame games won’t help you, just fix the mess created by you.”
