Adut, a daughter of President Salva Kiir Mayardit, made this pledge on her first day in office following her appointment.
“I would like to give you this message that this office is open to you; we would like to give you services that will give you back your dignity,” Adut told SSBC on Monday.
Adut assured returnees that her office is prepared to facilitate their safe and smooth integration into the communities.
“You’re welcome to talk to us; reach out to us. Our numbers will be available, and our contacts will be available. Please let us unite and work together as South Sudanese.”
The first female presidential envoy stated that the special programs offered by her office are aimed at assisting South Sudanese individuals, particularly in providing relief to vulnerable communities.
“I would like to also thank our President, His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit, for giving us this opportunity once again to serve our people.”
Several returnees from Kakuma Refugee Camp have crossed the border through the Nadapal due to extreme shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
Many have no choice but to make the dangerous journey on foot, as life in the camp becomes unbearable following the recent cuts to food rations.
While Category One and Two refugees received some food aid, Category Three and Four were completely left out with little or no support.
Families are leaving the camp in large numbers, hoping to survive in their home country despite ongoing instability.
Authorities in Greater Kapoeta, Eastern Equatoria State, have confirmed a growing influx of South Sudanese refugees returning from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya to South Sudan.
