KHARTOUM, JUNE 28, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – Sudan’s military leader, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has called for a mass mobilization of the country’s young people to help fight the rebellion by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a speech on the eve of Eid Al-Adha on Tuesday, al-Burhan said from the army headquarters in Khartoum that “the level of the conspiracy against Sudan requires everyone to be vigilant and ready to confront the existential threats to the state.”

“We ask all the youth of our country and everyone who can defend it not to hesitate or delay in playing this patriotic role, whether in their place of residence or by joining the military units to gain the honor of defending the survival of the Sudanese state which is experiencing internal and external conspiracies,” he added.

The RSF rebellion began in April, when it attacked several army positions in the capital Khartoum, and it has since spread to several parts of Sudan.

The rebellious paramilitary group has taken control of strategic military and government positions in the capital Khartoum and taken control of important towns in Darfur regions and have continued to clash with the armed forces.

The Army has accused the RSF of being backed by foreign powers, but the rebels have denied these allegations.
