Aweil East Community demand justice after 6-year-old girl raped, killed in Aweil town

Aweil East Community Association is demanding justice for 6-year-old girl who was recently raped, murdered and dumped in pit latrine in Awei town, the capital of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.

JUBA — Aweil East Community Association is demanding justice for 6-year-old girl who was recently raped, murdered and dumped in pit latrine in Awei town, the capital of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.

On 3rd May, a 42-year-old suspected Sudanese trader, Saber Abusom reportedly defied and murdered 6-year-old girl, Abuk Lual Lual and dumped her body into a pit latrine.

Three Sudanese traders were arrested on 5th May in connection with raping and killing of Abuk Lual.

In a statement seen by Sudans Post, Garang Deng Aguer, Chairperson for Aweil East Association demanded justice for victim of pervasive sexual violence.

“I strongly condemned such a recurring devil temptation and I wish the leadership of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (NBGS) through its forces of law to quickly take punitive measures against the alleged perpetrators by prosecuting them publicly,” Deng said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“With due respect to the government of NBGS, we call upon decisive court resolutions to rescue the situation in Aweil otherwise the matter is still precarious and a time tie bomb, starring and ticking to explode anytime.”

Deng said the action by the Sudanese trader has set what he called “dangerous precedent and unprecedented episode of social degradation” in Aweil town.

“It is the task of responsible for government to ensure this matter end for interest of victim, entire community and country at large by featuring a strong case study and draft maxim law against it,” he stressed.

He urged the leaders, intellectuals, chiefs, women and youths of Aweil community to joins hands together to demand for victim of pervasive sexual violence.

“I called upon leaders, intellectuals, chief, women and youths of the Aweil community to put our hands together for the interest of victims in our state and the country at large in pursuit of justice to maturely prevail at this time and deter any other similar incident in future,” he said.
